Meet The Team Behind Challenge Island

Amy Broocke & Patricia Beyer

What inspired you to become a Challenge Island Franchise Owner?

As educators, we appreciated the unique, hands-on, exciting, STEAM-filled Challenge Island Program. We were sure this whimsical, extraordinary program would be loved by both the young and old. We knew the kids would have fun participating in all the Challenge Island activities while learning essential 21st Century Skills that would prepare them to be successful adults in the future. Buying a Challenge Island Franchise was a no-brainer- we knew it would be exciting and educational for all involved.

Tell us about your professional background.

Patricia Beyer- Has both a MBA and a M.Ed. She began her career in the Business world as an IT Systems Analyst. She switched careers recently and is now an elementary school teacher. She loves working with kids and is glad she made the switch.
Amy Broocke- After earning her M.Ed., she taught in both public and independent schools for many years as both a teacher and an administrator. She feels that working with kids is the most rewarding job around!
In 2015, Amy and Patricia decided to join forces to bring the fun, STEAM-filled Challenge Island program to the Richmond area. They have been enjoying their new business ever since!”

What have you enjoyed most about starting your Challenge Island business?

The best part about the Challenge Island Program is viewing first hand the excitement and fun that the children (and adults) have collaborating in tribes to problem solve in order to successfully solve the STEAM-filled Challenges in unique ways. Watching the kids go through the problem solving steps to reach success and grow in confidence is pure JOY.

Please share one of your favorite Challenge Island moments.

Overhearing the kids excitedly talk about how much fun the Challenge Island classes are and that Challenge Island is their favorite!

We love watching adults enjoy the Challenge Island programs as much as the kids! At Challenge Island Family Nights and Teacher Workshops the adults have a blast participating in the program. It is fun to watch them wearing the tribal bandanas and face paint while working collaboratively with their tribe to creatively solve the challenge or task at hand!

What is your favorite Challenge Island “destination” and why?

This a very hard question because all the challenges are so much fun!
