Read Across America Day

On this enchanting field trip, we celebrate the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss, bringing his timeless tales to life through engaging STEAM challenges. Inspired by his classic books, students engineer bouncing Thing 1 and Thing 2 characters, exploring the captivating science of force and motion. The adventure continues as they design a Calder-inspired mobile that balances objects in true Cat in the Hat style, creating a symphony of movement and imagination.

As we honor Read Across America Day, Challenge Island proudly extends the celebration beyond the classroom. Our dedicated book series enriches the literary experience, ensuring that the magic of storytelling and the wonders of STEAM education converge to create a truly unforgettable adventure.

Women’s History Month – Engineering Equality with Ruth Bader Ginsburg

In honor of Women’s History Month in March, Challenge Island students embark on a captivating journey into the life and legacy of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Through hands-on activities, participants learn about her trailblazing contributions to a fairer world for women. The field trip culminates in a fascinating exploration of the science of weights and balance, as students engineer a working “scales of justice” weighing machine, symbolizing the power of equality.

Bubble Springs – Bursting into Endless Possibilities

As the school year draws to a close, Challenge Island invites students to celebrate with a burst of fun at Bubble Springs! Kids immerse themselves in the delightful properties of bubbles, exploring their secrets and marveling at their enchanting beauty. Using creative and critical thinking skills, students design bubble blowers to conquer a variety of exciting challenges, creating a kaleidoscope of colorful bubbles that symbolize the joy of learning.
