Swaying Like a Palm Tree

Have you ever had one of those days that you forget something? Something important? A couple of weeks ago I arrived at one of my classes to discover that I had forgotten not 1, but 2 important supplies. The first one was pretty straightforward to substitute. But the other one was glue. For slime. There just is no substitute for glue when you’re making slime. The kids and I were able to come up with a solution though that involved me running across the street to the drug store.

As embarrassing as this oversight could have been, it presented a good example for us to talk about one of our Palm Tree Pillars: resilience. Every one of us is going to run into something in life that just doesn’t work out the way we planned and we’ll need to be able to flex in the situation. The kids got to see an adult flex and help to solve the problem. Great practice for life!
